Gaston Neville

Urban and community studies & environmental studies, UConn 2022

Gaston Neville (He/Him) recently graduated from the University of Connecticut with a degree in urban and community studies & environmental studies. Growing up in a shoreline community in New Haven, Gaston has been interested in climate change and environmental degradation in coastal cities from an early age.

At UConn, Gaston was the director of the Sustainable Transportation Committee, where he created events like Community Ride Day that reimagined public space for micro-mobility use instead of cars to promote a more sustainable, human-centered environment.

He is passionate about working with communities in New Haven, like his work on Yale’s New Haven Hiring Initiative and the Yale School of the Environment’s Urban Resources Initiative,  co-leading a team in New Haven building urban ecological sites that empowered at-need communities. Gaston is currently interning at the Yale Center for Environmental Justice supporting the center’s repository project, communications and events, and assisting YCEJ partner with local environmental justice organizations. Gaston hopes to earn a masters in city planning to create joyful, walkable, and equitable communities through an environmental justice lens. Gaston enjoys attending music shows and exploring new green spaces in his free time.
