Mimi Martinez Okhuysen (she/her/ella) is a dedicated advocate for environmental stewardship and policy analysis. Currently pursuing her Master of Environmental Management at Yale School of the Environment (YSE), she brings a wealth of experience from her interdisciplinary undergraduate studies in government, sustainability, and geography. Mimi’s passion for environmental issues has driven her to engage in various impactful roles, including internships with the White House Council on Environmental Quality and prominent environmental nonprofits like Environment Texas and the Citizens’ Environmental Coalition.
Recognizing the urgency of addressing environmental justice issues, Mimi has joined the Yale Center of Environmental Justice (YCEJ) as a Development Fellow. In this capacity, she utilizes her expertise to support the center’s mission by identifying funding opportunities and fostering strategic partnerships. Mimi also contributes to public engagement efforts at The Forests Dialogue, further amplifying her commitment to environmental advocacy beyond academic realms.
Outside of her professional pursuits, Mimi finds joy in outdoor activities such as paddle boarding, as well as expressing her creativity through painting and enjoying cinematic experiences. Her multifaceted approach underscores her dedication to fostering environmental awareness and positive change.
