The Black Audit Project: Equitable Outcomes in Sustainable Development for People of African Descent

Event sponsored by Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN)
Event time
Wednesday, April 26, 2023 - 10:30am

Justin Hansford, Professor of Law at Howard University and Director of the Thurgood Marshall Civil Rights Center, as well as a member of the U.N. Permanent Forum on People of African Descent, along with Howard University law students will be sharing their research about US cities commitments to implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in communities of people of African descent. Their research measures the well-being of the Afro-descendant population, including their quality of life in select US cities using the SDG targets and indicators as units of measure. Their analysis extends beyond a singular focus or goal, but sheds light on structural patterns of inequality that threaten to derail achievement of the SDGs by 2030.
