Cultivation, Power, and Slavery during the Age of Revolutions

The core of the Agrarian Studies Program’s activities is a weekly colloquium organized around an annual theme. Invited specialists send papers in advance that are the focus of an organized discussion by the faculty and graduate students associated with the colloquium. This event’s guest speaker is Esteban Salas, a Ph.D. in African History and Postdoctoral Associate at MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies. His research centers on the impact of the Atlantic slave trade on societies in West Central Africa, and his current work focuses on themes of slavery, labor, racial thinking, and early colonialism in Angola.
This will take place on Friday, April 15 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM EDT. This is a hybried event. All may join via Zoom here. Yale affiliates may join in person at Room 101, 230 Prospect St. If you plan to attend in person, please RSVP to agrarian.studies@yale.edu by the Wednesday before the meeting with your lunch order (vegan or meat).
