Bennett Olupo
Bennett Olupo is a 2nd year Master of Environmental Management Candidate at the Yale School of the Environment. He received an M.A. in Urban Education from Loyola Marymount University following his completion of a B.S. in Biology and a B.A. in Spanish from the University of Minnesota. For his thesis, he is researching how community gardens and urban agricultural systems in Minneapolis promote local happiness, health, and education by conducting in-depth interviews and volunteering. Agrarian roots in Iowa, a Pan-Africanist upbringing, teaching in Los Angeles, and community organizing in Minneapolis inform his research and mentality. Bennett has a strong interest in food sovereignty and understanding how Black communities can flourish for generations to come.
