Vivian Bi is a second-year Master of Environmental Science student at the Yale School of the Environment. She is an environmental anthropologist interested in making a little more sense of the world from where pollution, urbanization, and migration intersect. She received a B.A. in Political Economy and a B.S. in Society & Environment from UC Berkeley in 2016.

Research Description
My master’s thesis research ethnographically examines how domestic migrant residents navigate coal-to-electricity clean air policies in Beijing’s urban villages, drawing connections between air pollution control, energy transitions, and migrant labor and livelihoods in Chinese state and subject-making.
