Environmental Joy

The Environmental Joy Congress is a dynamic gathering dedicated to exploring the intersection of environmental justice, resilience, and sustainability through a lens of hope and empowerment. Environmental Joy focuses on the ways in which communities engaged in environmental and climate justice work generate transformative solutions. Joy is an idea with diverse meanings: it can be innate, a grace-full feeling based in harmony with nature, community, faith, culture, laws, and policy, or even the economy. Joy is what injustice can take from us, and also what we regain when healing and repair occur. Joy is a core piece of what we seek when working for justice. Joy is something celebrated in community and can also be the wind in an individual’s soul, the goal that sustains them as they work for a better world.

The conference brings together activists, scholars, community leaders, and changemakers from around the world to share innovative solutions and inspiring stories that uplift communities facing environmental challenges. By centering joy and collective resilience, the event fosters a collaborative space where participants envision and work toward a just and sustainable future. Through workshops, discussions, and cultural exchanges, the conference highlights the power of positivity and solidarity in driving meaningful environmental and social change.
